Why are we Classical?

Classical Christian education (CCE) is a time-tested educational system which establishes a biblical worldview (called Paideia), incorporates methods based on natural phases of student development, cultivates the seven Christian Virtues, trains student reasoning through the Trivium (Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric), and interacts with the historical Great Books.

The Trivium:

Grammar

Young children are uniquely adapted to memorize. They learn chants, songs and rhythmic verse and can be taught an enormous amount of information. By exercising this ability, students remain practiced in the art of memorizing.

Pre K-6th
Logic

Early adolescent children become argumentative, and their ability to draw conclusions from a series of facts begins to develop. This is called the dialectic or logic phase. The students become practiced in the science of accurate thinking.

7th-9th
Rhetoric

High school students begin to develop a sense of how others perceive them, and become aware of various forms of expression and speech. They learn to speak and write in order to relate to their audience with clarity and persuasion.
